Spiritual & Mental Health In Ministry
Helpful Resources
Dangerous Calling – Paul David Tripp
This is another must read for anyone in ministry. Tripp is an excellent diagnostician and he nails the key challenges that every minister faces and gives straightforward but compassionate guidance.
Gentle & Lowly – Dane Ortlund
This book came out in Spring 2020, but it already has the feel of a Christian classic. Ortlund takes us on a magnificent journey through Scripture to show us the heart of Christ for sinners and sufferers. If you ever have times where you doubt God’s love and affection for you, then this book will be balm for your soul. We highly recommend using it as a morning devotional resource!
The Imperfect Pastor – Zack Eswine
This is a must read for anyone in ministry. It’s a desperately needed reminder in our day that we were not meant to try to produce results for Jesus. He’s asking us to be faithful with what He’s given us and to abide in Him. This book has had a profound impact on both my life (Jared), and Logan is the one who recommended it to me.
Spurgeon’s Sorrows – Zach Eswine
Spurgeon is known for his preaching, and rightly so, but it’s also a known fact that Spurgeon battled intense depression, or what he would call “melancholy”, his whole life. For those in ministry who face similar battles, this is an extremely encouraging and helpful book.
